Hypnotherapy for Reducing Stress
Stressed? It's a growing, myth-filled industry. Hypnotherapy is an excellent tool for dealing with Stress, but not in the way you might think. The myths about stress are many and varied, but the main ones go something like this: If I could just relax, chill-out, whatever... I wouldn't be stressed.
We are conditioned to pursue the usual suspects: The Symptoms This page is not big enough to list the myriad symptoms of stress, but here are a few: - Depression / Anxiety
- Insomnia / Too much sleep
- Low Libido / High Libido
- Overeating / No appetite
- Lethargy / Hyperactivity
- Lack of Focus / Obsessiveness
You get the idea? You can slice Stress up just about anyway you wish.... we each do it in our own way. That is why Stress Management, done on a group basis, tends to be ineffective, over time. Effective Stress Management is done on a one-to-one basis. So, where does Hypnotherapy come into this picture? Let's start with the best definition of Stress I have ever heard:
Stress is the reaction, in a person's body or mind, when that person perceives a potential threat to their physical or emotional well-being. Now, I'm a Yank, so I like things simple, and it doesn't get more simple than that. You see, the operative word in the definition is PERCEIVES. That's it. If a situation is not perceived as a threat, it is not stressful. So, no situation, in itself, is stressful; we must perceive it as a threat, or it isn't one. Since our perceptions are based upon our beliefs, and our beliefs reside in our Subconscious Mind, and Hypnotherapy works within the Subconscious Mind...once we alter our beliefs, we alter our levels of stress. Get it? In the meantime, I am putting together a FREE, 'No-Nonsense Stress Report', which will be available here soon. It will show you, step-by-step, practical things you can do to reduce Stress on a day-to-day basis. Please keep an eye out for it.
